Photoshoots for Senior Dogs
As dogs age their health can decline, and they may be more vulnerable, but this only makes us love them all the more. Last weekend I met up with Bud, a 15 year old Staffy, and his humans, for a very special photoshoot in Kirkstall, Leeds.
For the majority of Bud’s shoot, which we kept a little shorter than usual, he was carried from spot to spot by his dad, Stuart. Arthritis in his back legs has limited his mobility. His sight and hearing are also partially gone now, so I had to work quite hard to get his attention, but how gorgeous is his little smile here? I 100% fell for this chap as you can probably tell!
I was hoping for some soft autumn sunshine but as usual with the Yorkshire weather its not available to order, so we worked with what we had which was a little grey but gave us some nice flat, diffused light (grey days often mean pretty good conditions for photography!) We took a short walk around Kirkstall Abbey, stopping at spots where the October leaves were giving the floor some colour. I love the photograph below - Bud’s eyes are so soulful 🤍
Bud’s humans are over the moon with their photographs and I feel really proud that they chose me to document him with them at this point in his life. The bond between them is so clear to see in these images and is a reminder of just how much love and life we share with our dogs.
If you would like to book a shoot with your dog, I photograph all ages, sizes and breeds. Get in touch if you’d like to enquire, or view the different packages to decide what’s right for you.
